For Minority Kids, No Room to Breathe

http://www.nytimes.com/ref/health/healthguide/esn-asthmachildren-ess.html

This article is about how more minority children are at more risk than white children dying from asthma. “If you look at inner-city children, they’re sensitized to more allergens and exposed to more allergens at higher levels in their homes, allergens that it’s difficult for them to avoid,” said Dr. Andrew Liu of the National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver. Due to poor condition in their homes and schools they are more likely to have more attacks. And another factor why their asthma attacks are more critical is because the lack of outpatient medical treatment. this article persuades the reader because this article speaks to me personally. This is a problem that needs to be fixed but information is not being known. The solution is kind of simple because all you have to do is provide them with inhalers and good medical treatment if the family could not afford it.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/02/sports/othersports/02concussions.html?pagewanted=2&_r=1&hp

This article talks about how girls are getting more concussions than boys. “Generally speaking, the medical profession does not do a very good job in recognizing that female athletes sustain concussions at an equal or even higher rate as males,” said Dr. Robert Cantu of Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, one of the nation’s leading experts in concussion management. But studies have shown that the symptoms don't usually show and the girl(s) will usually keep playing. Doctors also feel that girls are more likely to report an injury that why they have numbers to back up their theories. We already know girls sports aren't taken serious so when the girls get hurt they are looked over. But girls are just as competive as boys. i feel that the writer is trying to persuade the readers because this topic is very important but highly looked over. Many people should read this because this is some vital information and could open peoples eyes to girl sports and their injuries.
